organic merino wool nappy pants
Ruskovilla's woollen nappy pants are known as simply the best in natural cloth diapering circles. They can also be worn as a soft wool pant over disposables. Not as thick or bulky as other woollen diaper covers, and yet oh so soft, they act as an insulating layer when worn over cotton nappies, keeping moisture in. Wool fibres contain lanolin which naturally repels moisture and breathes well. What's more, in the infrequent event that they do become wet (from a very wet nappy that hasn't been changed in awhile), they need only be aired and hung to dry. No need to wash unless soiled. Wool oxidizes naturally and 'self-cleans' in the air.
Ruskovilla follows the European convention for sizing, using the head-to-toe (flexed foot) height of the child in centimetres.
While heights of babies may vary, typically, a newborn will be ~50cm tall; size 50cm nappy pant is recommended. (Premature babies may take size 40cm). 60cm nappy pants will see baby through from ~2 mths until they are ready to graduate to size 80cm, which may be betwen 6-12 mths. (Most babies are not 80cm tall until at least 1 yr, but 80cm pants will fit sooner if a baby has a fuller waist and bum). 90cm for a baby 1 yr+. Whatever size you go with, rest assured that all Ruskovilla woollens have a compromising elasticity to them, which will see them snug or stretchy over a range of sizes.
Wash by hand before use.
Wool nappy pants can be hand-washed with woolwash detergent, or machine-washed on a woollens cycle in a front-loader washing machine. Woollens will shrink if subjected to too much agitation, heat, or extreme temperature changes during washing.
Air out between wearings. No need to wash unless soiled, as the lanolin in the wool undergoes a natural self-cleaning process as it reacts with oxygen in the air.
From time to time, one may find it necessary to re-lanolize woollens.
Sonnet wool conditioner does the trick.
