Ostheimer small giraffe head high pictured here with baobob tree by David Palhegyi.
The young or baby animals are lovely for making animal families, when coupled with the adults, or we can also suggest a collection of just the youths to make up a jungle set, as pictured here with the Ostheimer small zebra youth, small elephant trumpeting, and small ash rhino. Please note that the ash rhino was a special edition from Ostheimer, and the rhino and small rhino, still just as charming, are now painted grey.
In deciding whether to purchase the Ostheimer giraffe small with head low or the Ostheimer giraffe small with head high, (or the adult giraffe standing or adult giraffe running), the following suggestions could be helpful:
~ Some people opt to purchase only the youth or baby animals from the African animals collection. They can collectively group together to appear as though they are the adult figures, if no other larger adult figures are present to compare them to. This can present a small cost savings, as the youth figures are smaller and priced lower.
~ The small giraffes from Ostheimer are both lovely. The one with head high is particularly charming, as it can be reaching up to eat some tree leaves, or towards an adult giraffe. The head low also has a lovely look as paired with the adult (in particular with the adult giraffe standing), it looks to be leaning in towards it, and nestling a little.
Solid maple.

Wood contains tannins that have a natural antibacterial effect.
However, if cleaning is necessary, for example if it is heavily soiled, then Ostheimer recommends:
Use lukewarm water, possibly with a little diluted vinegar or a splash of ecological washing-up liquid (liquid dish detergent).
Gently rub the surfaces with a soft, clean cloth or sponge.
Lightly sand natural wood figures (not painted figures) in heavily soiled areas with 120 grit sandpaper.
After cleaning, rub the toy with a soft cotton cloth and let it air dry.
Nest Notes: Ostheimer items are known for being very smoothly sanded; however, should you ever encounter a rough spot or edge, you can use the 'brown paper bag trick', where you rub a brown paper bag just a little bit vigorously, and it acts as a very, very fine sandpaper that generally does not affect the colour.
